IN LISTENING
Has difficulty following oral directions
Has discrimination difficulty (e.g., hears Clean your feet for Clean your teeth)
Startles to noise
Echoes previous speech
Likes to hear story only if it has pictures

IN TALKING

Speech difficult to understand
Drops or jumbles sounds or words
Uses incorrect grammar
Repeats or prolongs sounds or words
Vocabulary may be strong, but struggles to think of words
Jumps from topic to topic
Interrupts
Talks too slowly or fast
Voice pitch is too high, low, or hoarse
Volume is too loud or soft

IN READING

Cannot sound out words
Does not understand meaning of passage
Repeats words or stumbles on words as reads
Reads slowly
As approaches college, cannot handle reading load

IN WRITING

Spelling is inaccurate
Punctuation is missing or misused
Uses incorrect grammar
Ideas are strong but disorganized

IN MATH

Does not understand math terms
Cannot calculate word problems
Cannot carry
Has trouble using operation symbols
Has trouble recalling math facts

These behaviors are considered in relation to age level expectancy.
